Timely justice: How case screening improves efficiency, effectiveness, and fairness

Explore results from the first randomized controlled trial regarding intake processes in a local prosecutor’s office in the United States. Evidence from the study demonstrates that quickly reviewing low-level cases and removing those that lack legal sufficiency can significantly reduce the negative impacts of the criminal justice system, give victims quicker resolution to cases, save valuable taxpayer dollars, and even improve public safety.
