Brian Grazer

Film/TV producer, author, 1951-present

Brian Grazer is an American film and television producer and New York Times bestselling author whose writings center around the importance of approaching life with curiosity first. In his book A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life, he describes how his relentless pursuit of knowledge and understanding has shaped his storytelling. Grazer writes, “Curiosity—asking questions—isn’t just a way of understanding the world. It’s a way of changing it.”

For decades, Grazer has conducted what he calls “curiosity conversations” with a wide range of people outside the entertainment industry—scientists, artists, politicians, and athletes—to explore perspectives far removed from Hollywood. These conversations informed his worldview, sparked ideas for projects, and helped him understand how to craft characters and narratives that resonate with a broad audience. Grazer believes that curiosity allows him to connect with others on a deeper level, unlocking new insights that enrich his work.

At JIL, we ask questions that challenge assumptions and explore the unknown. Curiosity drives us to dig deeper beyond surface-level solutions, uncover root causes, and discover unexpected connections. When we stay curious, we remain open to learning from failures, finding insights in surprising places, and continuously evolving our understanding of complex problems.
